A degree in accounting, taxation, finance, or business administration is
certainly the first item we check off when reviewing a professional’s
application. Plus, a record of accuracy, distinctive service and dedication.
They all count.
But we are not an accounting firm that’s solely about sharp pencils and tax
codes.
What makes a candidate’s credentials leap off the page is forward thinking. An
ability to look beyond our clients’ immediate needs to their future growth,
prosperity and wealth-building goals. That, more than anything else, is where
Mahoney Sabol is headed. Our accounting professionals should be, too.
At the same time, a nose-to-the-grindstone attitude is definitely not our style
365 days per year. Yes, tax season and other busy periods require everyone to
pull two oars. But while we like hard work, we also like our clients. In our
line of business, that really matters. It makes our firm a fun place to be as
well as a great place to build your career.

Ideally, you have high ideals. A healthy work ethic about business,
integrity, achievement and long-range success is one of our most important
requirements.
You’re a thinker and a planner. High intelligence and business sense are
equally valued here.
Preferably with Big Four experience. If you’ve worked in one of the top
four accounting firms in the country, so much the better. That’s where many of
us got our start. And while we are convinced that smaller is better, getting
your feet wet with a big firm increases your chances with ours.
Someone who engages people. An outgoing personality is an asset in a
line of work where our clients — entrepreneurs, corporate executives, small
business owners and individual investors— are, after all, people. We enjoy an
open, warm rapport with our clients.
A professional who knows. A solid understanding of the basics in
accounting should go without saying, but we’ll say it anyway.
And learns. No one is ever too knowledgeable or experienced to learn. We
approach our profession with humility as well as pride.
